Sorry it's been so long between updates!

Between helping people get the right clothing for their next big steps, marketing our clothing drives and events, and thanking all the generous people who make our work possible, I haven't had a minute to breathe.

Meanwhile, you can always find the latest news, events, articles, and more at www.secondchances.org - and sign-up for our no spam occasional newsletter to get it all in your inbox.

Thanks for staying connected with Second Chances!

There's still time to help change lives!

There's Still Time to Help Change Lives!

Dear Friend,

Imagine you're homeless, deeply depressed, and going on your 18th month of unemployment.

Many of the people you help by supporting Second Chances are facing situations like this. Or worse. But, they want to get out there and change things.

And, you can help! Your generosity opens doors - doors that lead to secure employment, housing, and the end of abusive relationships for many of our clients. And, I can't thank you enough for what your contribution will make possible.

I hope I can count on your support this year. As a small organization, Second Chances depends on each and every donation.

Let me remind you of the impact you'll have when you give...

If you're struggling with transportation and food and taking care of kids and the holidays and housing and finding a job and your safety - when exactly are you supposed to think about clothing?

But then it's time for that job interview or a meeting with the housing department. Do you have something appropriate to wear? Will they think less of you because of the missing button on your only winter coat? Or, will they be distracted by the hole in the toe of your boots?

This is what our clients face every day. Clients like Kaitlin.

I've been living with my grandmother for the past year and have been unable to find a steady job. I was starting to become hopeless. I don't have any money so interview clothes were really out of the question. One week after my Social Worker put in a request, a large bag arrived with my name on it. I never could have imagined owning such wonderful clothing. And now, with my new suit, I really feel great when I show up for interviews. Thank you.
~ Kaitlin

I don't know if Kaitlin got that job but I do know that - thanks to our supporters - she went in feeling confident and good about herself.

Second Chances has provided free clothing, shoes, accessories, and gift cards to thousands of people just like Kaitlin. We've opened doors for men, women and children in our community for more than seven years now.

And, while we can't remove all of the obstacles that people are facing today, together, we can help them look and feel their best when they go to that interview.

Our supporters have provided thousands of people with the best quality, most appropriate clothing for their particular situation - in colors and styles that help them feel great. A nice outfit and the confidence it brings can be the difference between success and failure.

I've experienced this, and I know you can relate. You put on your lucky tie or your grandmother's earrings for that big meeting, and you feel like you can do anything.

It's no different for our clients. Your contribution makes it possible for people to take those important first steps to a better life.

But, there are so many more people like Kaitlin who need our help. So many more who don't even know about our services.

That's why we are working to expand our reach. With more clothing donation bins. With an updated website and better outreach. With more hours spent talking to shelters and service providers.

Your support today will help Second Chances to do so much more. Collect more clothing, expand our work with local organizations, place more donation bins, reach more people in need...

Your support will provide more second chances.

Your contribution will be put to work immediately. Whatever the amount, I hope that you will consider a gift to Second Chances this year, and help us expand our reach.

Thank you for your support. Your gift will give someone in need a real second chance.

Warmly,

Andrea Shapiro
Founder and President/CEO
